Father Dan was born and raised in Kalida, Ohio. He attended school in Kalida and graduated from Kalida High School in 1984. After High School, he entered the Seminary. This consisted of 4 years of college at the Pontifical College Josephinium in Columbus, Ohio. He graduated in 1988. He then attended Theology School at Mount St. Mary's Seminary Athenaeum in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was ordained as a Priest on June 12, 1993 at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral in Toledo.

St. Augustine will be Father Dan's third assignment as a Priest and his first as a Pastor. He served as the Associate Pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Fremont, Ohio from 1993-1997. He moved to an assignment as Associate Pastor of St. John the Evangelist Church in Delphos, Ohio in July 1997.

Father Dan's parents are Paul and Jeanette Borgelt, who live outside of Kalida and are members of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kalida. He is the second of five children. Father Dan enjoys being a Priest and is very excited about coming to Napoleon as our Pastor.
