Liturgy
Liturgy
Committee
The
overall purpose of the Liturgy Committee is to plan and provide for
the spiritual development of each member of the parish through liturgical
celebrations on Sundays and major feasts and seasons. Members have a
love for and a strong commitment to liturgy and serve on an appointed
basis. Spiritual development and the celebration of faith is a continuous
process that requires time, effort and dedication.
Eucharistic
Ministers
Eucharistic
ministers assist in the distribution of the precious body and blood
of Jesus Christ with reverence and dignity at liturgical celebrations,
to the homebound and to individuals in nursing homes, retirement homes
or in the hospital. At various times throughout the year, interested
parishioners will be invited to an evening of formation and instruction.
Interested individuals need to have a deep love for God, believe that
the consecrated host and wine are the Body and Blood of Christ and be
willing to live as true disciples. Deepen your relationship with God;
be a Eucharistic minister.
Church
Choir
Our church choir
enhances the faith experience of the community through song at liturgical
celebrations of the Church. Our choir rehearses Wednesdays at 7:30 pm
and leads the music at Holy Day masses and the Sunday 10:30 mass. We
embrace a wide range of liturgical music from chant to contemporary
hymns and anthems.
We always welcome
new members middle-school aged and older. There is no experience needed
and no audition necessary. We are especially seeking a few more men.
Your family is welcome to sit in the balcony so that you can all worship
together at mass. Please consider joining our musical family, serve
God through music and leaning more about our liturgical celebrations.
For more information call Jim or Shellee Murcko.
Resurrection
Choir
This choir leads
the music at all funerals in the parish. People who have flexible daytime
schedules who are willing to share their musical talents make up the
group. We plan on attending all funerals at the church, unless otherwise
notified. If you are interested in this ministry, contact Shellee Murcko.
Contemporary
Music Ensemble
The Contemporary
Music Ensemble has grown out of our former Folk Group. We are currently
in a building stage and are looking for guitarists, singers, keyboard,
and other instruments to round out the group. We plan on leading music
at mass on the second Saturday of each month and meeting for two rehearsals
per month and a run-through before mass.
Our mission is
to join in the liturgy of the Church through a contemporary style of
music. We welcome and encourage new members who want to work together
to make a joyful noise! To find out more, contact the parish office
and leave a message for Bill Morey.
Greeters
Stewardship is
a way of life. Fellowship is one of the building blocks of stewardship.
Welcoming our brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus and offering to them
a sense of community is important in the practice of stewardship.
Greeters are responsible
for greeting parishioners and visitors to the parish at their designated
mass time. The greeters should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the
start of the designated mass. Greeting activities include a brief greeting
or hello and distribution of missalettes. Greeting responsibilities
conclude just prior to the opening processional. Families with children
are encouraged to participate in the greeting activity together.
Lectors
The ministry of
lector involves the duty and privilege of bringing to life the scriptures
at liturgy. Lectors proclaim the word of God to the community so that
all might more meaningfully share in the Eucharistic celebration. Lectors
give voice to God’s healing, strengthening and promise-filled
word, aiding all of us to be moved closer to Him and bring greater glory
to His name.
Sacristans
Sacristans work
closely with the priest and deacons and coordinate all aspects of our
liturgical celebrations. They set up the sanctuary, organize communion
stations, confirm lector and server assignments in preparation for the
celebration of the liturgy and assist with countless other tasks to
ensure that our worship and prayer is the best possible. If you are
organized, able to coordinate people, events and details and effectively
execute procedures, we could use your help orchestrating all the details
in the liturgies.
Servers
Students in grades
4 through high school are invited to be trained to assist the priest
and deacon at Mass. Besides assisting at weekend liturgies, servers
are asked to serve at funerals, weddings, Stations of the Cross, and
other religious services. Older servers are trained to use incense and
mentor the younger servers. Training sessions are held in February.
Ushers
Ushers assist individuals
to find seating prior to and during the Eucharistic celebration. Ushers
are also responsible for the collection at the preparation of the gifts
and facilitate the distribution patterns at the time of communion. Parishioners
who enjoy greeting people, offering assistance and have a pleasant disposition
will find this ministry very satisfying. This is a wonderful way to
give of yourself more fully while attending Mass.
