Cemetery
Board
The Cemetery Board
is responsible for the maintenance of the parish cemetery and for assisting
families in choosing cemetery plots when requested.
Funeral
Dinner Committee
The Funeral Dinner
Committee has been active in the parish for over twenty years. The Funeral
Dinner Committee coordinates, prepares and serves a funeral dinner for
the families and friends of the deceased following the funeral service.
This allows the family and friends of the deceased to share a time of
reflection after the funeral service. The funeral dinner menu usually
consists of ham, potatoes, gravy, salad, green beans, deviled eggs,
rolls, bread, coffee, tea, milk and lemonade. Parish members are called
to assist in preparing/providing a dessert item.
Knights
of Columbus
The objective of
the Knights of Columbus is to call Catholic men together to help remain
steadfast in their faith through mutual encouragement and shared faith
experiences. The programs promoted by the council are directed to church,
family and community. If you are interested in being present and attentive
to the social and spiritual needs of others, we invite you to explore
the possibility of becoming a Knights of Columbus member.
SCRIP
A fundraising effort
in which supporter purchase gift certificates at face value while the
participating retailers sell them to the parish at a discounted rate.
Individuals are needed to process the information, sort and distribute
the certificates and solicit local retailers to participate.
Tellers
Individuals and
teams are needed to count and deposit our Sunday collections. This is
either done on Sunday morning or Monday morning. Envelopes are opened
by the team, amounts recorded on the envelopes and funds deposited.
Recording of the envelopes is done by a volunteer later in the week.
Garden
Club
St. Augustine’s
Garden Club met and formed as a group on July 15, 2003. This group has
a mission to beautify St. Augustine Parish grounds and to add to the
Welcome and Worship experience of those attending functions at our Church,
at our School or at our annex buildings.
We are responsible
for the care of current plants and flowers, scheduling and assisting
in clean up of the Parish property, and assisting in the planning and
recommendations for future landscaping projects.
We schedule clean
up days both in the Spring and the Fall, at which times there will be
a need for additional help from parishioners who can spend a few hours
to support the effort to spruce up our parish grounds so they always
look their best.
The Garden Club
is always looking for a few more interested persons to plant, prune,
weed and water. Please join us.
Prayer
Chain
The prayer chain
consists of groups of individuals that pray for the church and its members.
There are several teams and each team has its own captain. When a person
has a prayer request they contact the prayer chain chairperson. The
chairperson then contacts all the team captains with the prayer request.
It is then the duty of the team captain to forward the prayer to the
next person on their team (or chain). When the last person on the team
is notified, they must contact their captain to inform them the chain
is complete. It is appropriate to request prayers for strength, comfort,
guidance, illness, deaths, surgery or specific needs of an individual
or the church. All prayer requests are strictly confidential. Prayer
is a vital part of our faith and spirituality. Miracles are possible
with the power of prayer.

Catholic
Corrections Ministers of Northwest Ohio
The Catholic Corrections
Ministers of Northwest Ohio is a group of forty (40) Catholic volunteers
and nine priests from Fulton, Henry, Defiance, Williams and Lucas County
who provide five religious services each Thursday evening to the incarcerated
at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio (CCNO) located in Stryker,
Ohio.
There are seven
teams of volunteers who conduct these services on a scheduled basis
and there is a mass approximately once a month.
These volunteers
also mentor the men and women on a one-on-one basis; hold two all day
retreats each year; teach Laubach; work in the library and assist CCNO
with special functions during the year.
At Christmas, they
sing carols and give teddy bears to offenders’ children.
There is also an
Aftercare Committee that helps released people obtain jobs, find housing,
bus transportation back home, obtain clothing and assist with many other
needs.
This is a wonderful
ministry in which we as Catholic Christians receive the opportunity
to fulfill the Scripture: “I was in prison and you visited me”
Matthew 25:36.
Bloodmobile
St. Augustine Parish

your time and talents in helping make life a little happier for someone
else.
Golden
Age Luncheon Association (GALA)
GALA (home delivered
meals) is an organization within the community which delivers hot meals
to sick and/or homebound people. St. Augustine’s volunteers deliver
meals approximately seven weeks throughout the year with various other
churches taking their turns. The meals are prepared at the Senior Center
then picked up and delivered to people in need of a hot nourishing meal.
