St. Augustine School Advisory Council
The School Advisory Council offers advice to the pastor and principal on all matters pertaining to the school. Members of the Advisory Counsil represent students, parents, and members of St. Augustine Parish. They are appointed to serve a three-year term; two members are appointed yearly.
Meetings are held monthly during the school year and additional meetings may be called by the pastor, principal, or president of the council as needed.
The Advisory Council is advisory; it does not work according to the elected representation of a public school district board of education. The central concern of the Advisory Council is the Catholic education of our children.
Finance
Committee
The Finance Committee is composed of elected members who are responsible for assuring that the temporal
affairs and goods of the parish are properly cared for. They assist the Pastor in reviewing the parish budget and in offering guidance pertaining to the financial concerns of the
parish.
Funeral Dinner Committee
The Funeral Dinner Committee has been active in the parish for over 25 years. The committee coordinates, prepares and services a funeral dinner for the families and friends of the deceased following the funeral service. This allows the family and friends of the deceased to share a time of reflection after the funeral service. The funeral dinner menu usually consists of ham, potatoes, gravy, salad, green beans, deviled eggs, rolls, bread, coffee, tea, milk and lemonade. Parish members are called to assist in preparing/providing a dessert item.
Pastoral Council
The council members, who are elected in the spring, work in conjunction with the pastor, parish staff, commissions, and committees to provide leadership to the parish. The Pastoral Council sets and directs the ongoing vision of the parish and coordinates its inception.
The three main tasks of the Pastoral Council are:
Stewardship Committee
The Stewardship Committee's mission is to teach and nourish the concept of the Catholic stewardship as a way of life for all of our parish community. The goal of the committee is to develop a vision for our parish where stewardship is a way of life, encompassing family, work, parish and community outreach.
Cemetery Committee
The Cemetery Board is responsible for the maintenance of the parish cemetery and for assisting families in choosing cemetary plots when requested.
